Simple And Best Blogging Conventions
73Blogging has established itself as both a popular hobby and as a legitimate type of media. Blog sites are easily built from templates, require no programming knowledge to update or maintain and can carry advertisements that can provide a source of extra revenue for bloggers. Blogs do follow certain conventions, many of which are built in functions of the templates from which they're commonly built and some of which are dependent upon the user.
Linking information is not only a convention of blogging. It's one of the most powerful features of the medium. Information which is referenced should always be linked via a text link to allow readers to further investigate the matter being discussed. This is also used to link blog posts to one another. For example, if an auto mechanic were blogging about rebuilding fuel injection systems, he or she could link the word "fuel injection" to another post that gave a broad overview of fuel injection. This allows information related to the post to be instantly available.
Blogs are usually categorized, as well. This allows readers to view all of the articles that have to do with a particular topic. This feature is particularly important for blogs that concentrate on news and current events as a reader can easily follow the progression of a story by selecting, with one click, to bring up all articles related to that subject.
Blogs are almost always networked with other blogs that offer similar content. Blogs operate somewhere between the worlds of public service and commercial concerns. While many bloggers do carry advertisements and, in some cases, advertise products within their blogs, there is a fairly common practice of allowing readers to visit other blogs, sometimes even of competitors. Blogs oftentimes benefit from placing community before competition.
Bloggers have an opportunity to present themselves to a worldwide audience and oftentimes gain a following who prefers their style and substance over other bloggers who write over similar topics. A blog should reflect a bit of the writer's personality in its pages. Even where journalistic blogs are concerned, the biases and opinions of the blogger are usually clearly stated, rather than being subsumed as is the tradition in print publications. Many blogs enjoy a very loyal readership. Once criticized by newspapers as a lesser form of information, blogs are actually starting to displace newspapers, a testament to the power of the form.
